What should I expect at a Turning Point service?
Expect to make new friends and have a good time in a relaxed atmosphere. Our gatherings meet for about an hour and a half. Every facet is designed to present one foundational truth. Each gathering utilizes a wide array of mediums including energetic music, videos, and other engaging media designed to reinforce the powerful principles of God’s word. Our music blends praise and worship with new renditions of great hymns all led with guitar and keyboard.
What happens When I Arrive?
If you arrive early you will be able to enjoy complimentary coffee and bagels which are available before the service between 10:20 and 10:35. Each week we have a countdown video on the TVs so everyone knows when the service will begin which is usually at 10:35.
What should I wear?
At Turning Point, we're not concerned with what you wear. We have people who wear jeans and t-shirts, and others who wear khakis and a button-up shirt. Come as you are and you'll fit right in.
What is Your Worship Service Like?
We usually begin with a greeting from our pastor followed by several songs intermingled with video. We mix familiar hymns with newer praise songs in a worshipful style. The music is followed by a biblical based message that also utilizes media.
We work hard at having a service that flows. We intentionally don’t have various segments to our service. Each Sunday there is one theme that is present both in music and message.
Do You Embarrass Guests During the Service?
No! You will not be asked to stand and introduce yourself. There will be a visitor card in the bulletin that we are able to fill out. You will be greeted and talked to by our members, but no attention will be drawn to you from the stage.
Do I Have to Put Money in the Offering Plate?
We don’t collect a traditional offering. So you don’t have to worry if people are watching to see if you give an offering. We have an offering box located by the entrance to our room. Some use the offering box and some use online giving, but those giving avenues are set up for our church family. There is no expectation for visitors to give anything.
What About Sunday School?
We do not have a regular Sunday School program. In its place we offer Focus groups. Focus groups are several small groups that meet at the conclusion of the message to discuss and apply the topic that was presented in the sermon. There are several questions presented that are designed to promote and encourage discussion and application. Again, we work hard to drive home one main topic or point. Focus groups enable us to keep the focus on the topic for that day as well as get input on that topic from those in each group. In these groups we also enjoy coffee and bagels. You are welcome to join in and discuss or just sit and listen.
