The Reality of Sin

October 13th, 2009

I JohnI recently heard an individual say that sin is anything you do that you think is wrong at that time.  He went on to say that what is sin for one person may not be sin for another person.  This Sunday we will again be looking at the book of I John, and we will see the reality that the Bible calls sin.  We will discuss the statements above and see from I John 3:4-10 that Christians are incompatible with sin.  I look forward to seeing you there.

Volleyball In The Park On Wednesday Evenings

October 1st, 2009

volleyballFor the next several Wednesday evenings we will be changing up small groups.  Instead of meeting for a Bible study, we will be meeting at local parks to play volleyball or football.  These activities provide a great opportunity for you to invite people to come hang out and in the process meet other people in our church in a non-threatening and non-intimidating environment.  We encourage you to identify people you can invite to hang out with us over the next several weeks.

There are two parks where we will be meeting:

Standifer Gap Park
8327 Standifer Gap Rd.
Chattanooga, TN 37421

          -AND-

Gilbert Stephenson Park
20 Van Cleve St.
Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742

If you have any questions, you can call Pastor John at 423-653-0884.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Final Week Of Our Current Series

September 17th, 2009

Create RipplesThis Sunday we are concluding our series that we are calling “Create Ripples”.  So far in this series we looked at how Jesus was able to impact so many lives when He was on earth, last week we looked at Paul’s focus in ministry, and this week we are going to look at how we, as individuals, can impact lives. We will be looking at I Peter 1:22-2:3.  The key, as we will examine, is eliminating hypocrisy from our lives.  We will talk about how we can effectively do that on a daily basis.  It will be a great conclusion to this series.  I encourage you to be there.  –Pastor Jeremy

Renewing Our Vision Sunday

September 8th, 2009

cookout1This Sunday will be “Renewing Our Vision” Sunday.  The focus of the service will be on the vision that we have for Turning Point Community Church.  We believe that God has great things in store for us, and we want to keep that focus in the front of our minds.  Following the service there will be a cookout at the Collegedale Pavilion located by the Collegedale City Hall and Imagination Station.

If you are want to learn more about Turning Point, this will be a great opportunity to meet the people and see the vision we have.  Please consider this an open invitation for you and your family to join us this Sunday, September 13th.
